KINGSTON, Jamaica – July 27, 2009 – Miss Earth Jamaica organizers announced today that by August 28, 2009 they will announce the result of the selection of a representative for Jamaica at the ninth edition of Miss Earth competition which takes place in Manilia, Philippines from October 18thru November 8,2009.
The Miss Earth winner serves as the spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other environmental organizations. About ninety (90) contestants from different countries and territories are expected to compete in the event. At the conclusion of the competition, outgoing titleholder Miss Earth 2008, Karla Henry of the Philippines will crown her successor.
