JIIC has once again underlined its commitment to preserving the social fabric of Jamaica, by assuming the enviable position of being the title sponsor of the 2010 Poetry in Motion GOLDEN TONGUE AWARDS.

JIIC has been a leading sponsor of Poetry in Motion, a seven (7) year-old event that has showcased some of the best talent in Creative Art locally.

Now, the Golden Tongue Awards (GTA), a prelude to Poetry in Motion (PIM), appeals to younger and new poets.

NEW YORK (JIS) Friday, May 01, 2009 - “I’m actually nervous,” said Jamaica’s Consul General Geneive Brown Metzger as she started her speech at Thursday night’s Caribbean Students Association’s (CSA) Alumni Dinner at City College. UN Urged to Examine Assistance Protocol to Vulnerable States

United NationsPermanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports, Faith Innerarity, has appealed to the United Nations, to re-examine its assistance protocol to member states deemed most vulnerable as a result of the global financial crisis.

She said that within the context of the current global crisis, and the challenges to social development, expenditure on essential human capital and protection of the vulnerable, should be enhanced and not compromised.
