SCHOOL DROP OUTS, FIND ‘SANCTUARY’ WITH CSJP-FUNDED PROGRAMME

[CSJP, Friday, February 19, 2010]: The two year old ‘Flanker Youth Sanctuary’ is being hailed for changing the lives of scores of school dropouts as well as expelled and suspended students from St. James, and may be preventing many from turning to crime and violence.

Through the Flanker Community Development Committee and with the support of the Citizen Security and Justice Programme (CSJP) of the Ministry of National Security, the Sanctuary has been rehabilitating students who have found themselves on the wrong side of school rules, at the Flanker Peace and Justice Centre. Jamaica, NY – April 20, 2009 – Center For Caribbean Progress (CCP), a public policy research organization, held a Free Immigration Seminar in celebration of the 6th Annual NYC Immigrant Heritage Week, to provide assistance to community members with immigration and naturalization challenges. The attentive audience, gathered at Community Church of the Nazarene, Far Rockaway, NY, posed pertinent questions and concerns to the three-person panel of immigration experts.

“As President Barack Obama visits Trinidad and Tobago to attend the Fifth Summit of the Americas, and proposes sweeping reform of immigration laws, the Caribbean community, as well as other immigrant groups, have many unanswered questions about the effects on their immigration filing, status, and process,” CCP founder Donald Vernon stated. SENATOR RONALD ROBINSON TO ATTEND SPECIAL ALUMNI WORSHIP SERVICE DURING NEW YORK VISIT

ronaldNEW YORK (JIS) Wednesday, April 15, 2009 - Senator Dr, the Hon. Ronald A. Robinson will spend Sunday morning at a special worship service at the Bronx Westchester Community Church, at 358 South Ninth Avenue, Mt. Vernon, New York.

The 11:00 am worship service will be the first annual for the Union of Jamaican Alumni Associations (UJAA) and will be a fixed part of the calendar of events for new president, Karlene Largie.
