Singer Luciano, AKA “Jah Messenger,” whose given name is Jepther McClymont, was beaten with a lead pipe on Friday, February 20th, and required 6 stitches in his face, after he was allegedly attacked by his sound engineer, “Freckles” Trench at a service station, on Constant Spring Road and Dunrobin Ave, in Kingston.
Freckles, who is a well known and respected writer, producer and sound engineer, for artists like Maxi Priest and Beenie Man, spoke exclusively to intrepid reporter, Brittany Somerset, about the alleged incident. According to Freckles, the beating was long overdue, in retaliation for Luciano dispatching his boys to cut chop up Freckles’ back and his thumb over a disagreement about money. Kingston, Jamaica, June 5, 2008 – World-renowned sound system Mighty Crown will be hosting their annual Reggae Festival – Yokohama Reggae SAI – on August 16, 2008 at the Yokohama Stadium in Yokohama, Japan.
The Festival, in celebration of Crown’s 17th anniversary, promises to be chock-full of excitement. Billed as Japan’s largest Reggae Festival, Yokohama Reggae SAI attracts revelLers from around the world. The highly anticipated event boasts an intense roster of Japanese Reggae/Dancehall artists and surprise guest artists from Jamaica. In recent years, the likes of Beenie Man, Tony Matterhorn, Voicemail and others have taken center stage.
Mighty Crown is the key source of Reggae/Dancehall entertainment in Japan. Through many business outfits (sound system, record label, clothing line, magazine, etc.), Mighty Crown permeates Japan with Reggae/Dancehall music and culture.
