PhotobucketNew York, NY – Thursday, October 8, 2009 Jamaica Impact, Inc., (JAMPACT) is making serious headway with the array of activities it has organized surrounding its Annual School Supplies and Toy Drive, which ends on October 31, 2009. JAMPACT will conduct another one of its community outreach on Saturday, October 10, 2009 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the office of its media partner, IRIE JAM 93.5 FM, located at 233-16A Merrick Blvd, Laurelton, NY 11422. To conclude the two month long drive which started in September, a final outreach drive will be held on October 24 at their Brooklyn drop-off location, 262B 96th Street between Kings Highway and Clarkson Avenue.

The organization has a goal of raising 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies and toys for distribution to JAMPACT’s four adopted basic schools in Kingston, Jamaica: Coles, Crescent Road, Maxfield Park, and St. Steven’s – with gifts also being made to other local schools. So far, the group has met nearly half of its goal, with over 450 supplies and backpacks collected. Thanks to an awesome partnership with Jamaicans.com, this year, interested parties from across the globe will be able to help by donating to the drive through a newly-created Wish List on Amazon.com. Items sent by October 31, to the address provided on Amazon will be included in organization’s year-end shipment to Jamaica and further assist in achieving this year’s goal.

On December 16, 2009, JAMPACT will be hosting its Annual Christmas Treat for each of its adopted schools across Kingston. Several hundred children will gather to participate in the annual Christmas celebration and will receive gifts of school supplies and toys obtained through the organization’s work and the support it receives from the various activities leading up to October 31st.

Donations gathered locally can be brought in to various drop-off stations conveniently located throughout New York City, which are ready to accept new or lightly used supplies such as educational toys, note books, reading books, pencils/pens, and backpacks, etc., for children ages 3 to 7.
