It is common knowledge that Reggae music is popular all over the world, especially in Europe and Japan, where Reggae acts are always in high demand. This demand has resulted in many Reggae Bands, groups and solo acts being based in Europe. One such group is German based Jamaican Reggae group Sixth Revelation. This talented group of musicians who are originally from the parish of Manchester made a name for themselves in the early 80s performing on the North coast hotel circuit’. Where they were spotted by overseas promoters and invited to perform in Japan 1986 for six months.

Since that time the band has continued to tour the world, making quite an impressive reputation for themselves while helping to spread reggae music to the four corners of the world. Tours and long stopovers in places as far a field as Africa, Thailand, Canada and America along with extensive tours of Japan, each lasting six months or more at a time are a part of the group’s regular routine.

In the early days of their career the group also provided backing music for a host of artists both live and in the studios both locally and abroad, such as The Mighty Diamonds, Josey Wales, Charlie Chaplain. Throughout the years Sixth Revelation has received a lot attention and adoration for their dynamic live performances internationally. The group has shared stage with some of Reggae’s greatest artists such as the legendary Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear, Jimmy Cliff, Third World, Beenie Man and many others. Sixth Revelation has won several awards in Germany such as the GERMAN ROCK & POP AWARD 2004 (”Deutscher Rock & Pop Preis 2004″) in Hamburg and 2005 the German Reggae Grammy in the “Best Band” category.

To date the band has recorded and released five albums “Dont Stop Trying”, “Respek”, “Help The Weak”, “Upliftment” and “Walking On The Rainbow” along with several singles. However almost all of these releases were released in overseas markets. Realizing that although they have made an impact on those markets, the group is not popular on home soil. Sixth Revelation now in Jamaica for a long overdued break from touring, has decided to make serious effort to correct this. They are currently working on several projects and will be releasing a single this month titled “Jamaica Jamaicans”on their Dub Party International label. The single which was co-produced by the group’s lead singer Papa D & Ralston Barrett (Torie/Shae’s Production) is already receiving airplay on several radio stations island-wide. Distribution for this single will be handled by In The Streets distribution.
